It’s been 4 years since I made my first post on Medium, so it’s only right that I reintroduce myself.

Hi, my name is Kiitan Aduloju. I am a writer who is waiting to be called to the Nigerian Bar.

I write almost everyday. Sometimes, I get up to a thousand words in, working on a story that’s been in the works for a year. Other times, it’s a five-line scribble of ideas I had in the shower, or lines that came to me while I was watching a movie.

Last year, I went on for months without writing anything, and I will be honest and say that Law School very nearly drained the life out of me. I put out something on Medium once though. Sort of as a way to remind myself that I’ve still got it.

Well, that was then. This is now. I can honestly say that out of the 18 days we’ve had this year, I’ve written something everyday. Whether it be a thousand words, or a five line scribble, or tweaking a paragraph so it sounds better, I have written something and I’m proud of myself for that.

I have learnt something this year though. I have learnt that consistency is beautiful. Showing up for yourself everyday and putting in the work will always yield results over time. So here’s my promise to my readers and ultimately to myself for this year. I promise to show up for myself. To write. Not just write and let it sit in my laptop for months on end, I also promise to hit the publish button a lot more this year.

Sometimes it would be fiction, other times musings, and other times, real life experiences. But one thing is for sure, you will feel how genuine each word you read from me is. That I know.

Someone I admire a lot told me recently that nobody will tell you to take yourself seriously before you do. So here is me taking myself seriously, and building again. Consistently this time.

Here’s to restarting.

Signed,

Kiitan, The Writer Babe.
